          Take-Away Points of the Presentation

          1. The majority of miscarriages are sporadic and are thought to result from genetic causes that are greatly influenced by maternal age.

          2. Recurrent pregnancy loss is defined by two or more failed clinical pregnancies.

          3. Assessment of RPL focuses on screening for genetic factors and antiphospholipid syndrome, assessment of uterine anatomy, hormonal and metabolic factors, and lifestyle variables.

          4. Up to 50% of cases of RPL will not have a clearly defined etiology.
