      Take-Away Points of the Presentation

1.) The foot is a unique and complicated structure.

2.) There are many surgical techniques to fix similar problems. Proper surgical planning and procedure selection is multifactorial and a proper thorough evaluation is paramount.

3.) There are many new technological advances in biomedical sciences, however the basic tenets of surgery and wound care remain most critical.

        Objectives of the Presentation

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

1.) Recognize the major causes and risks for Bunion deformity development.

2.) Identify 3 critical requirements for successful diabetic wound healing.

3.) Determine which ligaments are most commonly injured during a lateral ankle sprain and what is an appropriate treatment for an acute incident.
